The Health Information Locator (LIS) is the Virtual Health Library portal which contains the catalogue of information sources on health sciences available on Internet and selected with quality criteria. The LIS record describes the content of these information sources and includes the respective links to them.
The LIS methodology is the result of technical cooperation between the Centro Nacional de Información de Ciencias Médicas (CNICM), Red Telemática de Salud en Cuba (INFOMED) and BIREME.
The LIS methodology follows currently accepted standards and formats adopted internationally by libraries and documentation centers to describe information sources on the Internet. It is based on the GILS (Global Information Locator Service) and the Dublin Core formats, with some additional data fields.
